Degree Programmes
The School is able to offer high-quality training in Psychology at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. First-class facilities support internationally-leading research carried out by all members of the School. The highest possible rating was achieved in both the 1996 and 2001 Research Assessment Exercises and we anticipate another excellent result when the latest Assessment is published. Our teaching has also been commended with an award of Excellent in the Teaching Quality Assessment. We are one of the largest psychology departments in Britain, allowing us to offer flexibility and a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree schemes to suit different purposes and interests.
Please note the School's typical offer for Undergraduate admissions is AAB at A-level for applicants taking at least one of the following subjects - Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths. If a student has not taken any of these subjects, a typical offer would be AAA at A-level. These grades exclude General Studies.
The Cardiff School of Psychology received excellent scores in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), appearing at the top of our subject table. The Expert Panel's recognition of the high quality and relevance of our research has been continued from the previous assessments (1996, 2001) where the School received the highest possible ratings of 5*. Our teaching was also judged to be ‘Excellent’ in the Teaching Quality Assessment.
Research in the specialist areas is conducted in a large number of purpose-built laboratories that have all been refurbished within the last five years. The broad range of expertise within the School allows us to provide training in an unusually wide range of methodological techniques.
